THE PURGE

I NEED MORE!

"The Purge"  is produced by MY FAVORITE director Michael Bay!
....Ethan Hawke is in it
....Lena Headly (love her eyes)
....Max Burkholder

Yeah and No
No
No

No

Well guys I have to tell you I need more!

Okay let me set this up.  I rushed out of work, drove straight to the theater, got my ticket, popcorn  and sat down.  I ignored the trailers, I ignored the talkative group of girls in the front to the left and I focused.  Well by the fifth big head close up (direction shot) I was restless.

Now they introduce a creepy kid, their son.  He is creepy for no reason, and more close ups.

Then the teenage daughter, who loves her boyfriend and daddy hates him.  It this point I am figuring this movie out.   This was not going well.  Two seats in this theater cost $25.00.
Bay, Bay WTH!

Okay back to the close ups; close up on toy, close up on a kissing teenagers, close up on a watch.
Middle shot Ethan Hawke looks camera right/down at his desk, then talk talk talk and the alarm sounds and the purge begins.

The rest is just a slasher film!  A regular slasher film, just like any other slasher film.  Last House on the Left, toss one in air and pick a slasher film and that's the content of the movie.   Then at 7 am the alarm sounds and the purge is over.
Yah!  It's over, a lot of people are dead...so what...Yah!

"The Purge" is a movie with a great concept, A list actors and an unbalance script.

MY FIVE POINTS TO WHY:
1. You did not show how a family w/o an alarm system survived that night...
2. You did not show the after effects of a purge in the past...
3. You should have show how a major city: business, hospital, police station, fast food dealt with such an evening...
4. You did not show how others in other parts of the US (Kentucky, Florida, Texas)were planning for the purge...
5. You did not show how Americans were dealing with the purge...

You guys could have done so much and you guys did so little.

Oh yeah there's a sister in it.  Tisha French, she's from Detroit.

I was not happy with this outcome.  I imagined so much so in my head, in fact I should have gone to see Fast 6 again.

TODAY IN MY BIG BRAIN

Applause for ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy & TNT’s Southland.  Both of these shows feature an Asian sista and an African American sista in the regular cast.  That’s big guys, real big and let me explain why.

In Hollywood land there is only one IT girl African American actress spotlighted at the time.  Octavia and Viola was an anomaly.

Take a Look at This

Grimm -vs- Once

O.K this post is not about Films, this is about the new tv shows Grimm (NBC)-vs- Once (ABC).  Both of the show are based on characters by the Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm.  They wrote all the fairy tales that have been distorded and remolded by Disney.
Grimm is action back and picked up quickly.  You know who the bad guys are and who the good guys are from the beginning.  Cops and Crooks straight up, but it's cool right because the bad guys so far are creeepy and awesome!

Once is a character driver dialog heavy follow along drama.  You have to see it from atleast the first five minutes to stay on track.  It brings you to present and then spins you around a bit, sprinkles in a bit of action, then more dialog drama.  Yeah I'll keep watching to see what happens.
